TTC to sue Bombardier over late streetcars

Toronto's TTC Board voted unanimously to pursue legal action against Bombardier after a meeting this afternoon.

Bombardier has repeatedly failed to deliver Toronto its new streetcars on time. The Montreal-based company announced its latest delay on October 16 when it said it wouldn't be able to provide the TTC with the 23 streetcars it was supposed to have before the end of this year.

At that time, TTC Board Chair and Ward 19 Councillor Josh Colle said the city was considering suing Bombardier.

That was just the latest in a string of delays and issues with the new streetcars. In July, Bombardier altered its delivery schedule. And, previous shipments have included faulty cars that weren't serviceable for Toronto roads.

We should have had 67 new streetcars zipping around our streets by now. Instead, we have only 10.

Is suing Bombardier a good move? Let us know in the comments.
