Texas teen Ahmed Mohamed invited to Toronto

After Irving, Texas ninth grader Ahmed Mohamed was arrested for bringing a homemade alarm clock to school, many took to social media to show support for the intelligent, young creator - Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield included.

Hadfield invited Mohamed to Generator via Twitter. It's a science variety show he's organizing alongside his son Evan Hadfield that's happening at Toronto's Massey Hall on October 28.

Police hand-cuffed Mohamed at school on Monday and took him to a juvenile detention facility. They claimed his alarm clock was a bomb.

Many say Mohamed was targeted because he's Muslim. Now, the maker and science community -- as well as American President Barack Obama -- is rallying behind him, encouraging him to keep creating and inventing despite his arrest.

Evan Hadfield told Metro News that's he's contacted Mohamed's family but they're still not sure whether the 14-year-old will travel to Toronto next month. Although, he won't have to worry about finding a place to stay because the Four Seasons Hotel already has a room waiting for him.

Car company Blacklane offered to give the high-schooler rides to and from the airport, so now all he needs is a flight in.
