Rob Ford admits to buying illegal drugs

Rob Ford has admitted to buying illegal drugs within the past two years. The mayor's latest confession came this morning as part of a city council meeting in which Ford has had to field questions from his colleagues on council pertaining to his conduct and recent revelations that he has smoked crack cocaine. The admission came after Councillor Denzil Minnan-Wong, who has put forward a motion asking the mayor to step down, asked him the question outright.

"Have you purchased illegal drugs in the past two years?" Minnan-Wong queried. "Yes, I have," a flustered-looking Ford replied. In what was a common refrain this morning, Ford continued by saying "I'm humiliated by it, but I can't change the past." Numerous councillors have directly called for Ford to step down or take a leave of absence this morning, to which the mayor has steadfastly refused. While today's meeting has proven an opportunity for city councillors to hold Ford accountable for his actions, council lacks the authority to vote the mayor out.
