Is the City of Toronto playing jokes on us?
blogTO reader Lindsay Shostal sent us this photo of what looks like an official City of Toronto Transportation Services sign that reads "This snow will met within the next 48 days", seen on Camden Street.
She's dying to know if this is for real, and so am I. I'm somewhat sceptical though. It hardly seems like it would be necessary to post temporary signage on a tiny snow bank that is destined to melt within a short time from now (and presumably require that city staff return to collect the sign at that time). 48 days from when?
Perhaps the signs are more for the benefit of city staff than to us puzzled citizens. Maybe the operators of salters, ploughs, or even this behemoth mobile melting machine need to know which snow banks to pass by, and which ones to get all melty on.
Anyone know the score on these red signs? Is this an early April Fool's joke being played by someone? Perhaps in the morning someone can call Snow Removal and Operations Management at 416-338-9999 and report back here.
