Your morning news roundup for Wednesday November 28th, 2007:

Yesterday the lights went out in the downtown core again, due to a transformer problem at Hydro One. Am I imagining things, or is this not happening far too often recently? Do raccoons, like cats, also have nine lives?

Hot dog carts and ice cream trucks are cramping the ROM Crystal's elegant style. Pantalone says they're being shooed, and the ROM says they're looking for the best place for them.

Kindergarten in Ontario may go to full-day
by 2010. Parents would benefit by saving on daycare, and hopefully kids would benefit by being in school more, earlier. Kindergarten teachers would get twice the drool, tears, poop, and stress.

Seeing downtown drivers red light running seems to be common occurrence, despite the many cameras installed and fines issued. Should the consequences be made greater?

A foodbank in Parkdale has found temporary emergency funding and will remain operational as Christmas approaches after all. The rally and fundraising push by community activists was key.
