I resolve to woof

Although the Toronto Humane Society's Boxing Day extravaganza is over, where each adoption came with a box of doggy or kitty treats, it's always a good idea to take a THS pet into your home for the new year.

People always talk about losing 10 lbs. or sleeping more for their resolutions. This way, you'd at least have a pal to sleep with. And while my apartment can't handle a pooch (though I wish it were large enough for a Bernese mountain dog), I took home little Ralphie with me, a visually impaired guinea pig. Sweetest guy ever.

At last count, there were 14 cats and 21 dogs available for adoption -- all but five are pitbulls. With I swear, the saddest looking eyes...

I used to walk dogs at the THS and wanted to take them all home with me. Even if it meant getting dragged down the street while drunks pointed and laughed at me.

Toronto Humane Society is located at 11 River Street, just east of Parliament. For more info, call (416)392-2273 or visit the Web site.
