Germophobe's Dream - Your Own Transit Strap

It was about a week or two ago that I got an e-mail here at blogTO about the personal transit strap. I wasn't sure if I was going to blog about it... but then today happened.

This afternoon I spent 15 minutes sitting on a bus across from a man who quite literally had his hands down his pants and up his nose (in that order) and then remained kind enough to grip near every pole in the vehicle on his way out the back doors.

Repressing convulsions I did my best surfer impression and got off the bus without touching anything else.

So now then, let me tell you about a good idea: Transtrap.

Based out of Boston, Transtrap is offering products for worldwide public transit commuters. Their flagship item, the Original Transtrap, is basically a black strap (pictured here) much like the ones you'll find in newer TTC buses. The difference here is that this one goes in your pocket/bag/purse and is always there for you (and cleaner for you) when you need it. Fancy.

This item in particular can be yours for as little as $16.95 US + s/h.

Some alternative (cost-efficient) ideas I've considered: a hankerchief, guitar strap, neck tie, or Michael Jackson-esque glove. Hmmm. Those little kiddie gloves still go for $1 at Honest Ed's, don't they?
