Lansdowne 47b or the Party bus?

Dear TTC,
Please send the new buses. Soon.

Yesterday I rode 4 different bus routes. Nothing out of the ordinary 'cept that in each bus I mounted (sometimes, quite literally) I noticed poster ads by the TTC showing off their NEW fleet of buses.

I'll admit I'm excited to smell that new bus smell, but as I don't generally ride the Avenue Rd, Bay or Yonge routes, I haven't had much experience with the nicer side of T.O. buses.

On the way home at night, I hopped on the trusty ol' Lansdowne bus -- which unusually happened to be one of the real old-timers. You know the kind... the buses that may send you flying on a light brake but are always a joy because of all the ROOM (at least if you're able-bodied).

Well, despite my initial joy, I was quickly reminded of why they need to get these clunkers replaced. This bus, though everyone tried their best to ignore it, was the strobe-light-party-bus.

No, it wasn't that the flourescents were fizzling out (as
they tend to do when nearing death)... no no. The entire lighting system aboard the bus was malfunctioning by synching with the turn signal lights.

Therefore, every single time the driver pulled over, pulled back on to the road, changed lanes, etc (ie. OFTEN) the whole bus would flash on and off and on and off and... it was hilarious.

Camera in hand, I realized that this was not a still-photo event.

I'm hoping it's back on the road come Saturday night... I'm looking for a cheap party.
